The debate on the domestic partnership bill (SB183) is underway in a joint session of the Senate Judiciary and Public Affairs.
Most the arguments on both sides we've heard umpteen times before. But a new factor was introduced a few minutes ago: newly elected Sen. Scott Brown.
A woman speaking against the bill mention that "gay marriage" has been rejected by voters all over the country. She warned senators that if they passed the bill here we might see a situation like Scott Brown in Massachusetts.
In other words, watch out for election upsets if you approve domestic partnerships.
Senate Democratic Whip Mary Jane Garcia later responded that she didn't appreciate the threat.
But I don't think that's the last time Scott Brown will be used as a boogie man in political discussion here
