It's a mirror bill of Senate Bill 137, which was the subject of my Roundhouse Roundup column last week because it somehow grew into a free-wheeling discussion of issues including illegal immigration, terrorism, drug abuse, Guatemalan gangs and Islam and a tense detour into racism.
The consideration of the House bill (sponsored by Rep. Nate Cote) barely lasted a minute before the Senate voted 31-2 to pass it.
The Senate bill, sponsored by Sen. Phil Griego, is still in the House Judiciary Committee.
HB25 goes to the governor.
